I certainly am not in any way even close to Cece's mega sock accomplishment this summer, but these are off the needles and on their intended feets:
They're bmp - aka the Space Invaders socks. Knit on KnitPicks DPNs size 2.25 needles, using KnitPicks Risatta yarn - a cotton/merino blend that has some stretchy stuff in it too so it has some nice elasticity. (I used two skeins of black, one of white, and a bit of one of grass green). The pattern calls for a lot of stitches for a sock - you cast on 92 stitches. I thought about sizing it down (as I was worried it'd be too big in circumference) - but I'm glad I didn't - as the fair isle patterning cinches in the leg considerably, and any smaller and it'd be difficult (if not impossible) to get it over your heel. (Yes, it depends on your foot size. In this case, the feet matched the pattern finished measurements pretty closely.)
These were one of my quicker knits too - I started them early in August, and finished them Sept 9. With no conference knitting opportunities in there, though there was a cross-country plane flight.
In queue next are a few things: I am 3/4 done with a pair of lobster claw mittens - this pair is turning out sized for Toby and Hannah will need want a pair too, I need to finish beading on the kitty paw scarf for Amy, Poppy needs one sleeve (and there are some woes with the effort - it took several tries to get the cuff going, and I'm several inches up the sleeve now and noticed that it is massively smaller in circumference than the first sleeve so it's time to rip and re-start), and who knows what else.
